Introducing Expotel’s events team – the crew who can make all your Christmas (party) wishes come true!

What better way to say thank you to your staff than with a Christmas party? After all, nothing makes for a happy, productive workforce like a knees-up! Here, Expotel’s events organisers show how they can help you with everything from finding your perfect venue and managing your guest list to sourcing Cossack dancers and a Saturday Night Fever flashing disco floor!

Name: Roberta Parr
Job title: Events and conferences consultant
Aswell as venue-finding, I also do event management. At the moment I’m organising a Bond-themed From Russia With Love event for National Grid for 800 people, complete with Cossack dancers, dodgems and a ski simulator. But, as events organisers, we can do a simpler and ever-popular disco-and-dinner event at a country house hotel, too.
Prediction for this year’s Christmas parties: A lot of people are going for a romantic, old-fashioned Christmas, complete with roaring fire and pretty lights.
All I want for Christmas is… I’m going on holiday with my family, so just being with them… oh, and maybe some Chanel perfume!

Name: Jennifer Murison
Job title: Senior events consultant
With six years’ experience, my role includes finding venues and event management. I do this by attending the events and managing all aspects of it to make sure everything runs smoothly – from registration to the timing of the tea and coffee! We can do events of any size, from a private dinner for 10, a medium-sized reception for 80, to a banquet for 400 – I recently helped manage an event for 800 people. One of the most memorable events I organised had a Shakespearean theme, with actors playing out scenes in between the courses at dinner.
Prediction for this year’s Christmas parties: While some people still want a festive theme, I have been doing a lot more Christmas parties with 70s and 80s themes this year.
All I want for Christmas is… Clothes, money – the usual!

Job title: Senior events consultant
I’m one of the project leaders on the events team; my role includes finding the right venue and meeting the client to go through the logistics – from the event running order to transport. We can also provide a tailor-made online booking website for Christmas-party guests – which can include online, secure registration, multiple payment options, flexible pricing and more.
Prediction for this year’s Christmas parties: I have had a lot more budget-minded Christmas-party requests this year, but even with just a DJ or a disco, you can add a bit more impact by having a flashing dance floor to recreate your very own Saturday Night Fever moments!
All I want for Christmas is… I’m getting married just before Christmas, so I’m hoping that goes without a hitch. A new flat-screen TV would be nice, too!

Name: Rebecca Garlick
Job title: Conference and events consultant
I can help you completely theme your event. I’ve organised a Hollywood-themed event, sourcing a Marilyn Monroe lookalike and even six-foot Oscars!
Prediction for this year’s Christmas parties: People are making an effort and dressing up this year, to create that feel-good factor. Anything that adds a bit of glamour is good. Also, there are a lot of ‘joiner’ events being organised, where people are booking tables at the venue’s pre-arranged party nights, rather than their own private party.
All I want for Christmas is… Some Bobbie Brown foundation – I’ve got just enough to last me until Christmas!
