Business travel shows signs of recovery

As it emerged yesterday that the British economy had taken a small-but-tentative step out of recession, business travel was also showing signs of recovery. A recent survey reveals that over 90 per cent of business travellers expect to travel the same or more for business over the coming 12 months.
Conducted by the Business Travel & Meetings Show ahead of next month’s event at London’s Earl’s Court, the poll questioned 2,400 frequent travellers about various aspects of travel.
The survey also found that online check-in is considered the greatest boon to business travellers, with respondents voting it the ‘innovation of the decade’. This was closely followed by Wi-Fi, flat beds, notebooks and Eurostar.
Desirable future innovations concentrated on speedier airport systems, with faster security, check-in and immigration measures coming top of the list.
Despite its troubled year, British Airways can take some solace in being awarded top spot in the customer service category by respondents.
Official figures showed the British economy grew by a weaker-than-expected 0.1 per cent in the last three months of 2009.
