IHG announces new hotels in Glasgow and Liverpool
An impression of IHG's Hotel Indigo Glasgow, due to open later this year
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of two new Hotel Indigo properties – in Glasgow and Liverpool respectively – continuing the boutique brand’s expansion into Europe.
The 96-bedroom Hotel Indigo Glasgow, scheduled for a mid-2010 opening, will be situated in a converted bank building on Waterloo Street, offering guests easy access to the financial district, main shopping area and Central Station.
Meanwhile, the Hotel Indigo Liverpool – larger, with 151 bedrooms – will offer guests a city-centre address and add to the group’s existing seven hotels in the city. This is due to open in early 2011.
Kirk Kinsell, IHG’s president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Signing these two new hotels in the current climate shows we have the right strategy for growing the brand.
“All Hotel Indigo properties are unique, and designed specifically to reflect their location. Glasgow and Liverpool are exciting, vibrant cities and thriving tourist and business destinations that are a great match for the Hotel Indigo brand.”
Hotel Indigo opened its first London property in January 2009 with the Hotel Indigo London Paddington. Since then it has signed three further London properties – in Cannon Street, Philpot Lane and Kensington Church Street.
