Hotel of the week: City Inn Leeds
Having opened its doors last July, the brand new City Inn Leeds has had a bit of time to settle in and properly get its feet under the table. And settle in it certainly has.
With an already-impressive collection of glowing reviews, the eight-month-old, new-build hotel has been rewarding critics and business travellers alike with attentive, cheerful service; spotless, contemporary rooms; and public spaces that, well, just make you feel good.
And talking of public spaces, the hotel’s appropriately named SkyLounge – perched as it is on the 13th floor, with far-reaching views across the city and to the rolling hills beyond – has developed something of a cult following, its cool décor and cocktails appealing to the city’s style crowd.
The City Inn Café, too, got a thumbs-up from The Observer’s much-feared Jay Rayner, who declared it “accomplished, proper cooking”. Phew!
The centrepiece of the redeveloped Granary Wharf, the hotel overlooks the River Aire and the Leeds Liverpool Canal, and is just minutes from the city’s railway station.
With each of its 333 bedrooms sporting an iMac computer, iSight webcam with Skype, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi and Sky, this is a hotel that has most definitely embraced the 21st century.
The Leeds hotel is the sixth in the City Inn group, which has based its growing reputation on great cities, great buildings, great facilities and great staff.
