Venue of the Week: Sofitel London St James

One of London’s smartest venues is now even smarter. Following the completion of a major refurbishment of its MICE offering, the five-star Sofitel London St James – which is part of the Accor group – has 12 conference and banqueting rooms benefiting from top-end interior design and the very latest in AV technology.
Made up of an interlinked boardroom, private dining room and ante-room, the boardroom suite even has its own separate entrance for privacy
Situated below the luxury Piccadilly hotel, the events space’s luxury feel draws on a palette of champagne, dove grey and a spectrum of plums, magentas and damsons.
Use of chandeliers, mood lighting and light well-style ‘real’ windows to give the impression of natural daylight ensures that light is never an issue for delegates.
Additionally, the use of soft furnishings gives the space a welcoming, homely feel.
The intelligent design also sees the creation of a flexible meeting space – rooms are available for small, medium or large events, either as individual rooms or through the removal of divider walls, plus large break-out areas that also come with cosy little nooks for those intimate post-meeting chats.
But it’s not just the design that’s intelligent; the audio-visual offering is, too. All the conference rooms come equipped with the latest facilities, such as remote touch-screen systems to monitor the rooms, Wi-Fi, video conferencing for up to 12 people, and glass screens with rear projection or LCD screens.
Separate from the fray, the 12-person boardroom suite is something really special. Made up of an interlinked elegant boardroom, an adjacent private dining room (à la carte or bespoke dining is available) and a multi-functional ante-room, the suite even has its own separate entrance to ensure complete privacy.
