The Grosvenor announces design overhaul

Stylishly understated: one of The Grosvenor's new-look bedrooms
London's Grosvenor, the latest addition to
the Guoman collection, is to benefit from an £18 million investment by the
group, giving the Victoria-based hotel an elegant new look.
The project, scheduled for completion ahead of London 2012, will sensitively restore the hotel’s intricate, English Heritage-listed features, while remaining sensitive to the property’s history as a Victorian railway hotel.
As well as a complete restyle of all 357 bedrooms, new-look public areas, restaurants and bars will re-identify The Grosvenor as an inspirational, contemporary hotel.
The Grand Imperial, The Grosvenor’s high-end, authentic Cantonese restaurant, due to open in the late autumn of this year, is set to become a sought-after destination eatery and a major part of the hotel’s future realignment as a globally recognised hotel.
Additional features will
include the ambitious development of a self-contained executive accommodation
tower, with striking views over the city, and the introduction of a Guoman Club
Lounge, offering an exclusive executive area for business guests to unwind,
work or network.
Heiko Figge, managing director, Guoman
& Thistle Hotels, commented: “The Grosvenor is set to become a considerable
component of the Guoman collection... and the group remains completely
committed, and excited, to re-launch The Grosvenor in its new-found glory.”
