Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Awarded Carbon Trust Standard
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels has just been awarded the Carbon Trust
Standard for measuring, managing and reducing its carbon emissions by more
than 2% across its UK-based properties.
The group has been reducing its carbon emissions since 2007 in a bid to
minimise its environmental impact. The energy-saving initiatives include
fitting water-saving shower heads and taps, installing low-energy lighting,
recycling food waste, providing bicycle racks and encouraging staff to
commute by bike, and working with suppliers to reduce the miles driven to
deliver goods.
Clive Harrington, SVP Operations at Millennium & Copthorne Hotels,
commented: "We are delighted to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard and
that our efforts to reduce carbon emissions have been recognised. Our
commitment to making energy savings not only helps reduce our carbon
footprint, but also makes us more efficient, helping us to deliver better
value for our customers and shareholders.
The Carbon Trust Standard recognises organisations that are committed to
real carbon reduction. Based on a rigorous, independent assessment, the
Standard certifies organisations that have measured, managed and reduced
their carbon emissions across their own operations and are committed to
reducing them year-on-year.
