Hotel of the week: Armathwaite Hall

One of England’s most sought-after stately homes has evolved into one of the country’s leading spa hotels.

Armathwaite Hall, part of the Expotel Collection, is a privately owned,  luxury hotel with a large, contemporary new spa. Located near Keswick, this beautiful four-star property is set in the secluded splendour of 400 acres of deer park and woodland, bordered by the calming waters of Bassenthwaite Lake and framed by the dramatic Skiddaw Mountain and Lake District Fells.

It’s an ideal location for sales meetings, product launches, corporate hospitality and team building, with conference facilities that include six meeting rooms for up to 200 people.  A flexible meal plan is on offer, as well as corporate entertainment along the lines of a casino, guest speakers and wine tastings.

Each of the hotel’s 42 bedrooms has an individual character, with views towards the lake or the gardens, the deer park or the courtyard.  Armathwaite Hall also boasts lounge areas complete with open fires, and two excellent restaurants.

For those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, there’s a tennis court, a croquet lawn and Trotters World of Animals Wildlife Park on the estate. And if relaxation is the name of your game, then look no further, because Armathwaite Hall’s spacious luxury spa has a 16-metre infinity swimming pool, an outdoor hydrotherapy pool overlooking the parklands, a wallow pool, steam room, sauna, aroma room and treatment rooms. There’s also a state-of-the-art gym and exercise studio.

The exceptional service and high-quality customer experience offered by Armathwaite Hall has resulted in two well-deserved award wins during 2010: the British Hospitality Tourism Award and the Cumbria Tourism Large Hotel of the Year Award.

With its impressive track record, there’s no surprise that Armathwaite Hall has established a very strong reputation as a popular but discreet location for people who are looking for time out from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
