Venue of the week: Mercure Windsor Castle
Recently opened by the Mayor of Windsor, these completely refurbished banqueting suites at the Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel – the oldest in Windsor no less - are grand, sumptuous and add a special touch to any large event.
The Windsor, Georgian and Balmoral suites have been meticulously restored to their former glory and the Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel has worked closely with English Heritage to ensure that the transformation was in keeping with the building. Colour schemes and furnishings have been carefully chosen to enhance elegant room features and impressive original chandeliers lovingly restored.
At the same time, the £120,000 refurbishment instilled the very best of 21st century splendour and facilities to the three banqueting suites making them ideal for balls, weddings, formal functions, official visits and charity events, and – of course – banquets.
The Mercure Windsor Castle Hotel is in a prime central location, opposite the gates of Windsor castle, and just 30 minutes from London. The four-star hotel has 108 rooms, combining period charm with modern and stylish facilities.
At the reopening of the banqueting suites General Manager Jane Riley said: ‘Given that 80 per cent of visitors to Windsor are based in the UK, I think it is wonderful to respect the established values of traditional hospitality and historic buildings. We are absolutely delighted with our magnificent banqueting suites.’
