IHG creates hundreds of new jobs with 54 new hotel openings

InterContinental Hotels Group reported another successful period for hotel signings, adding a further 54 hotels to its European pipeline in the year from June 2010 to May 2011.

The 7,874 rooms are spread across the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

Kirk Kinsell, president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, IHG said:

"Signing a further 54 properties is testament to the strength of our brands and reflects our commitment to growth in Europe. These new additions mean IHG continues to hold the hospitality industry's largest development pipeline with 1,236 hotels worldwide." 

Hotel Indigo signings:Hotel Indigo Berlin Alexanderplatz (152 rooms), Hotel Indigo Berlin Hardenbergstraße (81 rooms), Hotel Indigo Hamburg St Pauli (94 rooms), Hotel Indigo Birmingham (52 rooms) Hotel Indigo York (101 rooms), Hotel Indigo Edinburgh, (60 rooms) Hotel Indigo Newcastle (148 rooms), Hotel Indigo Madrid Gran Via (89 rooms) is set to open in Spring 2012, Hotel Indigo Lisbon Baixa (139 rooms).

Staybridge Suites signings: Staybridge Suites Edinburgh (121 extended stay suites), Staybridge Suites London Stratford, (162 extended stay suites).

Crowne Plaza signings: Crowne Plaza Geneva (308 rooms), Crowne Plaza Verona (160 rooms), Crowne Plaza St Petersburg Ligovsky (200 rooms), Crowne Plaza Amsterdam South, (207 rooms), Crowne Plaza Amstelkwartier, owned by Amstelside BV, (310 rooms),?Crowne Plaza Istanbul Asia (336 rooms), Crowne Plaza Istanbul Hagia Sophia (63 rooms) Crowne Plaza Istanbul Harbiye, (285 rooms), Crowne Plaza (194 rooms), Resort Colchester Five Lakes (194 rooms).
