Expotel wins award for helping young people find employment

Expotel has been recognised by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council for its support of young people in the workplace.

With an established presence in Stockport, Expotel has supported a number of initiatives to help prepare students for life after education. These have included: attendance at careers fairs, helping with mock interviews at a local High School, encouraging apprenticeships, accepting young people on work experience and involvement in the 14-19 years employer engagement group.

The awards, organized by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, recognise people who have been successful in education and training as well as local businesses working to engage 14 – 19 year olds.

Jane Wheeler, head of HR at Expotel, said: “There has never been a more crucial time for companies to be supporting young people getting into work. With UK unemployment among people aged 16 to 24 jumping to over a million recently, businesses have to do something.

“Expotel is in a position to give these young people the experience they so desperately need to get on the career ladder. Many of our staff volunteered to be involved, which demonstrates the value they see in these initiatives.”
