IHG celebrates meetings and events accreditation from MIA
Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has achieved Aim accreditation as part of its ambition to become the market leader in the meetings and events sector.
AIM is the industry’s only accreditation scheme and clearly distinguishes quality meetings, conference and events venues.
Fourteen of IHG Managed Estate’s Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza properties underwent rigorous quality checks to ensure they met standards set out by the Meetings Industry Association (MIA), following a series of quality checks. The group achieved a pass rate of 93%, scoring above the Aim prerequisite of 65%.
David Taylor, IHG UK and Ireland Managed Estate’s appointed head of meetings and event said:
"Joining MIA and receiving Aim accreditation reflects a much wider ambition to become the market leader within the meetings and events sector, and is recognition of our effort and investment into this area of our business over the last year."
IHG said it is "dedicated to improving standards for business guests" across its estate, demonstrated by its £4m investment at its Kensington Forum meetings an events space and a £1m investment in staff training and development. The group has launched a ‘Your Meeting, Your Way’ pledge, which includes a money-back guarantee for clients that are not satisfied.
Jane Longhurst, MIA’s chief executive, said: "I commend David on his strategic vision and look forward to working closely with him and his team to develop IHG’s meetings and events product. I believe it can become one of the shining examples of excellence within the meetings and events sector and is perfectly suited for Aim."
