Recently refurbished, the art deco-era hotel has 128 bedrooms, eight suites, and six function rooms for up to 300 guests. There are also lots of dining options, including the award-winning Phoenix restaurant and The Palm Court Lounge.
Why Valletta? Not many destinations have thousands of years’ history as a meeting place. But Unesco World Heritage-listed Valletta – one of the best-preserved fortified cities in the world – has played host to everyone from saints to presidents and from EU conferences to small groups. There’s a fantastic range of choices – including castles, palazzos and forts, theme parks and luxury yachts, exclusive sea-front facilities and a 16th-century Mediterranean conference centre – so there’s something for all budgets and tastes.
Hotel Nexus, Seattle, US
Why the Nexus? Calling itself “Uniquely Retro – Freshly Modern”, the Hotel Nexus is a great choice if staying in North Seattle. Recently refurbished, the 169-bedroom hotel offers affordability with a splash of luxury – there are 12 two-room suites and six spa studios, replete with Japanese hydrotherapy tubs. There are also lots of handy extras for business travellers, from the room price including a free hot breakfast, downtown shuttle, parking and internet to rooms coming with pay-per-view movies, as well as microwaves and refrigerators. Close by Seattle Convention Centre and Shoreline Convention Centre, the hotel also has its own in-house meeting facilities of four function functions, plus access to two nearby colleages and the Seattle and Lynnwood Convention Centre.
Why Seattle? Seattle is one the US’s most dynamic cities – it’s renowned for its creativity and is a powerful business hub, with several Fortune 500 companies based there. There’s a fantastic range of venue options, too. The Washington State Convention Center is the Pacific Northwest's premier event facility, which can accommodate events of 20 to 3,500 delegates and has 61 meeting rooms.
Eresin Hotel, Istanbul, Turkey
Why the Eresin? If you like your culture ancient, the Eresin Crown Hotel is just the place for you. The hotel has 49 pieces of art and architecture from ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine times on display. There is also a mosaic and a cistern, an underground water storage system, that were found during the construction of the hotel that date from as early as 300 BC. Situated in the Sultanahmet, Istanbul’s stunning historic quarter, the 60-bedroom boutique hotel has commanding views the world-class sites of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus waterway. However, if your trip is more meetings than mosques, you’ll be pleased to know the hotel has MICE capacity for up to 180 delegates.
Why Istanbul? Turkey’s second city is a stunning location for any event – whether you holding a conference in the state-of-the-art Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Centre (ICEC) or a dinner dance on the Bosphorus. There’s also a fantastic range of venues to choose from, particularly if you’re after something historical such as Maiden’s Tower (a tower in the middle of the Bosphorus dating back to 408 BC) and the Adile Sultan Palace (a former royal palace), which has extensive halls and gardens for events use.
