De Vere Venues chef wins prestigious gold medal

De Vere Venues chef, Jamain Lewis, has just been crowned gold medal winner of the prestigious UK International Association of Conference Centres Copper Skillet Award.
Held at the Ashridge Management centre, the awards were judged by two of the industry’s top chefs, including Michelin-starred chef Andreas Antona. Competing against eight other contestants, Jamain was only given his ingredients 15 minutes before cooking began.
IACC recognises that the quality of food for conference delegates is a major part of the overall conference experience and the award is highly regarded by IACC members across the globe.
Chairman of Judges Peter Griffiths MBE, Executive Council Member of the British Culinary Federation said:
“With just one burner and very limited equipment to work with, all the competitors did exceptionally well. The standards set were a credit to all concerned and the gold medal winner, Jamian Lewis of De Vere Venues, produced a balanced dish, cooked perfectly, with a good depth of harmonised flavours.”
Mark Cooper of IACC Europe presented the awards at a private luncheon, with a Silver medal to Zhubair of the Royal College of Physicians and a Bronze medal to Lee Gaskins of the Sundial Group.
Jamian will now travel to the US to take part in the Global Final at the IACC North American Conference where up to 10 country finalists compete for the IACC Copper Skillet Chef of 2011 title.
