Virgin carries warnings on inflight movies

Responding to a passenger survey, Virgin Atlantic has introduced 'hazardous to your emotional health' warning signs on films that are potentially the biggest tearjerkers onboard a flight.
In a recent survey, Virgin found 55% of respondents agreed their emotions were heightened when watching tearjerkers on a flight, over 40% said that they either pretended to have something in their eye or hid their tears under blankets.
“It is not surprising that high flyers feel emotional at altitude... their defences are lower than usual, as they put themselves in someone else’s safe hands.” says Corinne Sweet, Psychologist, “The space created by long haul flying can allow for deep-seated feelings to surface, especially when triggered by tear-jerking films. Heightened feelings in the rarefied atmosphere of an aircraft should be welcomed...”
‘Water for Elephants’ and ‘Just Go With It!’ have been the first big inflight movies to carry the new warning sign that flashes up before the start to advise passengers to have tissues at the ready or to press the call button for an emotional shoulder to cry on.
