A brigade of chefs from Wyboston Lakes are today celebrating their success after winning several medals at Europe's largest hospitality exhibition, Hotelympia, held at ExCel in February 2008.
In its 75th year, Hotelympia's celebrated 'Salon Culinaire' is recognised worldwide as one of the industry's largest and toughest competitions for chefs. More than 85 competition classes are held over the five day event.
Wyboston Lakes is already noted for its culinary excellence with awards including 'Best Catering Club of the Year' at the Club Mirror Awards 2006 and Gold and Silver medals at the Bedford Food Festival. The recent success at the Salon Culinaire assures the brigade of chefs pre-eminence in the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire regions and beyond.
Having entered six of the competition classes, the team walked away with five medals including two golds, one silver and three bronze medals. Competing against many of the UK's renowned five-star hotels and leading restaurants, Wyboston Lakes' brigade of seven comprised Steven Butler, Glenn Corby, Matt Durham, Michael Fuller, Leigh Morris, Will Rendell-Read and Gareth Sandalance.
Executive Chef, Fergus Martin said: We are absolutely delighted at our recent success at Hotelympia; these awards really do confirm the outstanding offering at Wyboston Lakes and The Waterfront Brasserie. We are always looking to improve ourselves and over the spring we will be hoping to further add to the awards cabinet at Wyboston Lakes!
